We live in a beautiful part of this planet… blue skies, beaches and gorgeous hinterland. As we race from job to home, from school to shops, or from the highways to the byways… it is easy to take this all for granted, and to forget that some of us do it pretty tough.

Thankfully there are some fantastic organisations around that don’t forget. They look after those requiring help, education, or with special needs. And they are largely run by a solid team of volunteers who care about our community and help make sure that none of us fall through the gaps.

At Secrets on the Lake in Montville, they believe the world goes around on kindness… not just giving money or things, but giving time and of yourself. The owners, George and Aldy, are constantly humbled by and grateful for each and every one of their staff, suppliers, treehouse guests, Dining on the Deck patrons, and wedding couples, and their ongoing support and commitment to their business.

Due to this, Secrets like to ‘pass it on’ wherever they can, and usually that means donating to charities and raffling off accommodation stays and restaurant vouchers to raise money for local community groups helping those in need.

Every year since 2010 Secrets have supported the community by raising nearly $20 000 for local groups and charities. This November they are giving a ‘Helping Hand’ and running a raffle to raise money for three local charities.

So let’s get behind this fundraiser and buy a ticket whenever any of us pop into Secrets or some of the local businesses in the hinterland over the next few months.

Each ticket goes in the draw to win one of five main prizes… either a one- or  two-night midweek stay in one of their world-class treehouses, or one of two restaurant vouchers for a meal at Dining on the Deck, or a $100 voucher for Mane Street Hair and Beauty.

Every cent of your raffle ticket purchase will go towards supporting the Shack Community Centre and Lily House!

The raffle will be drawn at a special fundraiser morning tea on Thursday November 28, starting from 9.30am and going until approximately 11am. Members of the public are invited to see the prizes drawn, while enjoying a tasting plate of morning tea morsels.

There will be lucky door prizes including a night’s stay and others, a guest speaker and some fun guaranteed. Please make a booking. Morning tea is $15 with profits going to the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre, a special place providing connection, emergency relief and accommodation, counselling, and raising awareness and community development.

Tickets and morning tea bookings can be purchased at Secrets on the Lake, online at info@secretsonthelake.com.au or by phoning (07) 5478 5888.
