HT Young Writer of the Year Award

The Hinterland Times newspaper is very excited to announce our new award,



For 2019, the subject is ‘A Day in the Life’

It could be yourself, someone you know or admire, a character you’ve created, an animal, even an alien life form. The choices are limitless. Fact or fiction, humorous or serious, any genre of prose is acceptable.

Age limit: 11 – 17 years. Word limit: 600 words.

Please send submissions to editor@hinterlandtimes.com.au with your name, contact details, age and story title on page 1, and the submission on page 2 onwards.

Closing date for entries June 30, winners announced in the August edition of HT.

(The HT judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.)

Winner – $100, piece published in the announcing edition of HT, framed certificate and front cover

Two Runners Up – $50 each, pieces published in subsequent editions of HT, framed certificate and front cover with the winner

Three Highly Commended – framed certificate and pieces published in subsequent editions of HT

We hope to nurture a love of writing amongst the younger generations of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, inspiring you to find your unique voice and perhaps encourage you towards a future writing career.
