Trees for koalas

Mar 7, 2019 | Community

The Old Witta School Community Centre Committee is working hard to improve the amenities and grounds of The Old Witta School. Thanks to generous assistance from The Sunshine Coast Council and the Community Benefit Gambling Fund, a new kitchen will be installed in the next month.

There is also a very important koala tree planting project planned for March. In conjunction with Land for Wildlife, the committee is planting 500 native trees in an unused corner of the school grounds to help sustain the existing koala population in the area.

This is a great opportunity for the local community to come together and create habitat for future populations of endemic species and will be a fun and educational activity for everyone involved.

The community planting will take place at The Old Witta School, 316 Witta Rd, March 30 at 8am. Bring along your water bottle, hat, sunscreen and trowel and join us on this important morning. Contact details: 5494 4366 or email: oldwittaschool@gmail.com
