The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, is a very funny involved plot, encompassing love and liaisons, tricks and disguises, lust and laughter. The forthcoming production by The Maleny Singers will hold you in thrall.
The main four characters are Figaro – personal valet to the Count – played by Tony Glazebrook; Susanna – his bride to be and personal maid to the Countess – played by Evalee Sharples; Count Almaviva – a very wealthy and bored Lord of the Manor – played by Colin Dunn, and Countess Rosina – his faithful but unhappy wife – played by Sarah-Jane Abbott.
Colin, Evalee and Tony have played major roles for many years in this talented group. In his youth, Colin was a chorister and soloist, and he continues to show his musicianship and lovely tenor voice.
Evalee has had years of experience in Brisbane musical companies, and continues to grow as a performer.
Tony is relatively new to opera but the phrase ‘duck to water’ springs to mind, and Sarah-Jane is making her debut in a major role as the Countess.
All this, plus an orchestra of 22 under the baton of Margaret Taylor, who also directs the opera. A wonderful chance to have fun and support through Rotary, two great charities – LifeFlight Foundation and Blackall Range Care.
Performances at the Maleny Community Centre on November 9, 10 and 11, at 7pm, 4pm and 2pm respectively.
