Bryan Kelly from Mayfield Patisserie and Chocolates in Montville has backed up his performance this year by winning the title of Best Gourmet Sausage Roll in Australia.

Bryan has won state awards in previous years and has finally reached his goal of winning the national award. Many hours of experimentation go into creating these sausage rolls with much effort being placed on flavour, texture, moisture and appearance.

The best selection of products was shipped to Melbourne on overnight freight and baked again the previous day for judging. The result? Winning four gold state level awards for Beef, Chicken and Mushroom, Turkey and Cranberry and Lamb and Feta. It was the Lamb and Feta Sausage roll that won the overall national title.

When Bryan creates, he mulls on the flavours, the taste combinations and then experiments – and it has paid off.

Bryan said of the win, “At first I felt emotional as it was a huge achievement to compete against the quality of the trades people in the industry and to have that title under my cap is rewarding for the 35 years in the trade.”

Customers compliments on the savoury and deserts are consistent which is really rewarding for Bryan and the staff. Congratulations!
