Seven months have passed since the murder of Mildred Hayes’ daughter and still no arrest has been made. Frustrated and angered by what she regards as an inefficient local police force, the hard-nosed mother puts up three roadside signs to goad them into action. In so doing, Mildred provokes the wrath of both the police and the townsfolk. Frances McDormand was nominated for Best Actress in 2017 playing Mildred.
