Luke Smith shows his soccer skills

Palmwoods Warriors Football Club (soccer) has 40 years of proud football history in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. They also have a proud history of producing State level players and this year is no exception.

After the recent QLD Churches Soccer Association State Titles held at Redbank Plains, five Palmwoods players have been chosen for QLD teams. These include Courtney Davey (women’s), Daniel Powell (U/18 boys), Erin Powell (U/16 girls), Tristan Bailey (U/14 boys) and Luke Smith (U/14 boys).

This is quite an amazing achievement for such a small club. “We are incredibly proud of our state players,” said President Jon Walton. “They have worked hard at club and representative level. They are a real asset to the club and should be extremely proud of their achievements.”

All five players are busily fundraising to get themselves to the National Titles that are being held in Redcliffe during the September/October school holidays. Each player needs to raise about $1600.

They have been spraying player’s hair green and gold, making cupcakes and washing cars, and would appreciate any offers of help or sponsorship from the local community or businesses.

Please contact their club via the Facebook page, Palmwoods Warriors FC, if you’d like to help out. Their next home games on August 4 and 11 will be a great opportunity to get your car washed or buy a cupcake or snag to help them on their way.
