The Maleny Chamber of Commerce had the recent pleasure of hosting the announcement from the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club (MDSRC) in partnership with a number of local service organisations, of the creation of a ‘Memorial and Pioneer Community Park’ on the Maleny Sports Park on the Precinct.
The Chamber was thrilled to be invited to be involved with this wonderful community project. They believe this development will not only service locals but also bring tourists to the region, especially those with a keen interest in history.
More tourists mean more money coming into our town and businesses; so congratulations those involved with this initiative. The Chamber said they look forward to supporting and working alongside the project committee.
Congratulations also to the Community Parks Maleny campaign, who encouraged feedback and support from the community in seeking generous recreational space with facilities and amenities for all.
Some 300 enthusiastic passers-by signed up to their campaign in just a few hours at its official launch in Maple Street in January 2018, joining an initial band of 60 residents who showed eloquent support.
This park will complement the town’s most popular outdoor destination, the Maleny Trail on the Maleny Community Precinct, the vast parkland on the town’s doorstep owned by Sunshine Coast Council.
