The Queensland style Hotel Maleny provides a welcoming and historic presence to the township. Its by-line is ‘Heart of the Hinterland’. It is a heart that supports its community in ways that often go unnoticed.

I spoke with hotel manager Tric Johnstone.

“We sponsor local netball teams, also men’s and women’s soccer. Each year Hotel Maleny donates a trophy to Muscle on the Mountain, an event that raises funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.”

Tric talked about caring for the community in particular, Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.

“They do great work for people experiencing hardship. Our hotel provides financial aid, runs raffles and has assisted with crisis accommodation.

“We have supported Maleny Music Festival and enjoy a good rapport with our neighbours the Cricket Club, providing sponsorship for special events like their family day.”

Maleny Golf Club’s inaugural PGA Legends Pro-Am is to be held on December 16. Hotel Maleny is a major sponsor.

This multifunctional venue offers dining, accommodation, entertainment and caters for functions, also introducing Trivia Nights on the third Thursday of each month, 6.30pm for 7pm start, and

Michelle Brown, Sunshine Coast blues singer, 1-4pm on the first Sunday of the month.

It welcomes local groups such as the Rotary Club, which has been meeting there for many years.

The latest addition to the hotel’s staff is multi-award-winning chef Andrew Strange. I look forward to this dining experience.

In supporting Hotel Maleny, you support your community.
