Remembrance Day services are held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of November, 2017, by our local RSL members. This year we also have a special request from Kenilworth community groups and Maleny Library.

Wreaths for Kenilworth

At Anzac Day this year we found that many wreaths from florists cost around $100 each, which most local organisations have difficulty in funding.

So a group of local folk have decided to ‘have a go’ at making wreaths for Remembrance Day on November 11.

On Friday afternoon, November 10, from 2pm, please come to the RSL rooms at the Kenilworth Show Hall, and we will help you make a wreath for your organisation or family.

We have some of the plastic holders which we can use, but we will need flowers and greenery.

If you have flowers which you would like to donate, you can either drop them at the RSL room in the afternoon, or give Yvonne James a call on 5472 3089 and she will arrange to come and collect them from you.

Maleny at War

Discover Maleny’s World War II heritage through an exhibition of local memorabilia, imagery and educational displays at Maleny Library.

Write a short description of why the recipe is so important to you or your family, and share it with the community!

You can be involved in this in various ways. Drop off a handwritten copy or colour photocopy of an heirloom to the library, or perhaps a local heritage recipe swap? The idea is that these recipes in particular will be on display through November, so locals can read them and even try them at home. A perfect way to strengthen local community connections and create conversation.

The exhibition is free and available during library hours in the month of November 1-30.
