Rotary prepare for fun at Maleny Manor

It’s that time of the year when the racing fraternity gears up for the “Race that stops the Nation” – a time for fun, suspense, fashion parades , a wager or two and an opportunity to enjoy the annual Rotary Club of Maleny Melbourne Cup Lunch, and support two very worthwhile local community organisations.

The Rotary Club of Maleny is hosting its third Melbourne Cup Day fundraising lunch at Maleny Manor. The two previous events have raised nearly $13,000 for the community and we plan on another financially successful, and more importantly, fun day this year.

The multi-award winning Maleny Manor will once again provide the venue; and internationally-known model, Lauren Vickers, will be there as she was last year, to compere the fashion parade and co-host the event with her father Rick, a Maleny local.

The fashion parade will follow the theme of ‘silk and sandals’ featuring clothes from the well-known Maleny business Simply Stylish with shoes provided by Imelda’s on Maple.

The not-for-profit organisations to benefit this year are Maleny Hospital Auxiliary Inc. who raise funds for specialist equipment for the extra comfort and treatment of patients at the Maleny Hospital.

Also Hear and Say Nambour, a branch of a support organization established 25 years ago to help hearing impaired children to hear, listen and speak so they can attend regular schools and participate in the wider community.

Tickets are $95. and include canapes, a welcome drink, two-course lunch and three tickets in the Calcutta horse raffle and auction. There will be cup sweeps, raffles, best dressed and other ‘spot’ prizes.

Space is limited so reservations are essential – ring 0448 830 030 or email
