Schulz Johnson Holdings owner, Sam Johnson congratulates Maleny’s Morgan Brown on winning Apprentice of the Year
Morgan Brown, from Maleny’s leading house building companies, Schulz Johnson Holdings, has taken out the coveted Apprentice of the Year Award at the Gala Master Builders Excellence in Building Awards Ceremony.
“Sam kept the nomination pretty quiet, but started asking questions which made me suspicious he was up to something. We were joking around on the way to the awards about me getting up on stage,” said Morgan. “But I was completely shocked when they read out my name!”
Morgan has been with the company for just over a year now and appreciates Sam Johnson and Kieran Schulz providing work in an industry he is proud to be a part of, and in his home town.
Many of Morgan’s family have trades, he likes working outside, so jumped at the opportunity.
“Typically apprentices cop a fair amount of flack in the building industry,” says Morgan. “But Sam, Craig and the rest of the guys are pretty cool and don’t push me too hard or expect too much.”
“I just always try to do my best and ask questions when I’m stuck. Sam lets me know how I’m doing and gives me feedback when I’m doing well. I think he knows me pretty well.”
Master Builder and owner, Sam Johnson comments, “We are extremely lucky to have Morgs. He is so polite, well-mannered and mature. If I could find another ten Morgans I’d employ them at the drop of a hat.
“In this day and age, you need to go a long way to find employees with such a good attitude, work ethic and care factor.
“Morgan is extremely modest but is easily the best apprentice I’ve ever had, with the best attitude which is why we nominated him for the awards.”
