Montville Growers and Makers Market at the Montville Village Hall has its very own way to celebrate 50 years of the Sunshine Coast! Image Candice Herne
Regardless of what market you visit this month, you’ll be sure to collect some sweet tasting local strawberries. Nambour State College’s strawberry patch gives students hands-on experience and they are on sale at Hinterland Harvest markets to help raise funds for a new farm shed, their cattle show team truck and more opportunities for students. Enjoy your pickings!
“From Farm to Cafe” explores local history
Historically the centre of the community, the Montville Hall has, for the last nine years, been revitalised by the monthly market that brings young and old, producer and consumer, together to celebrate and enjoy the abundance of produce and community spirit of the Blackall Range.
This month the Montville Grower’s and Maker’s Market will showcase a ‘The Changing Face of Montville – Exhibition: “From Farm to Cafe”.
The photographic display has been put together by the Montville Historical Group, a very active sub-committee of the Montville Village Association, which has its own website www.montvillehistory.org.au and Facebook presence.
The art exhibition is presented by the Blackall Range Visual Artists. The exhibitions capture the changing face of Montville over the last 50 years and, in particular, the boom in the 1990s when Main Street developments changed Montville from a small rural village into a thriving tourist centre.
Come early for breakfast at the long communal tables and enjoy sweet Montville strawberries on piping hot pancakes and tea made in the traditional manner, or a cup of Montville-roasted espresso.
Live festive music, children’s art activities, an array of growers and makers stalls under the historic leafy figs of Memorial Close, Montville, make it the perfect place to be on a crisp winter’s morning.
Memorial Close, Montville, Saturday August 12, 7.30am to midday.
