Workshop with Alice Spittle to create the Forest Art Trail
Come along to an open-air collaborative exhibition of 15 installations, which will be located along the sides of the Maleny Obi Boardwalk. Observe, explore and co-create with nature!
This Art Street Maleny and Horizon Festival of Arts and Culture event is taking place September 1-3.
The exhibits on display include tree masks all through the trail on different trees. These will be made out of recycled paper pulp with additional natural materials like leaves, grass, sticks and pieces of natural fabric.
There are also dreamcatchers – neon glow paint drawings on white fabric stretched on wooden stick circles with Indigenous Aboriginal Dreamtime symbols, all through the trail. The messages are incredibly effective at night, and show a tribute to the Maleny Music Festival.
Descriptions of each art piece or artefact will be exhibited on the natural wooden logs standing upright about 50cm tall. The top surface will be cut at a slight angle.
Forest Art Trail workshops and community workshops at the Forest Heart Space and “ The Green” in town take place before the Forest Art Trail exhibition. They are as follows: August 5 ’Painted Stones and Earth Art
, August 26 ’Botanic Prints and Natural Dyes’, August 27 ’Papermaking and Masks’.
