This is the 9th year of the Kenilworth Cheese, Wine & Food Fest, showcasing produce and producers from the Mary Valley and surrounding districts.
Graeme White, coordinator for the Food Fest, shares some of the upcoming treats in store.
“We have five wineries coming – traditional, fruit and organic – with these boutique wines available for tasting.
“Chef Peter Wolfe from Cedar Creek Bushfood Farm will be demonstrating at 10.30am and 1.30pm, and Primal Influence, Aimee and Clint will demonstrate cooking at 11.30 am and 12.30pm.”
You can also enjoy Queensland cheese! Red Malling and Roma Malling cheese were developed by Poppa Hansen in the early 20th century in the district of Malling, on the Darling Downs.
In 1990, Kenilworth Country Foods Pty Ltd purchased the recipe from the Hansen family and today their cheese makers follow the traditional method, which results in its unique texture and flavour.
“We have stalls that have been with us from our first festival,” Graeme continues, “Kenan’s Catering, Turkish Food, The Van from Hoian, Vietnamese Food, Stella May Fine Foods, and The Maleny Pie Guy. It’s an eclectic mix of fine foods”
The festival will have the popular Great Cheese Rolling Competition, and the Cheester Egg Hunt for kids ages 4-7 only, plus the Easter Hat Parade for all ages.
Other fun attractions are Camel Rides, Macdonald’s Baby Animal Farm, live music by Rubatuba and much more to keep everyone well fed and entertained.
Rediscover the simple pleasure of a day in the country that the whole family will enjoy. Come and celebrate Easter Saturday in Kenilworth, the Heart of the Mary Valley.
Entry to the Festival is free.
