WANITA BERGANN AND MELISSA BORICH, are the entrepreneurial women behind their own clothing, jewellery and gift shop, Piece of Me. They are now expanding their business by moving into more spacious premises just two doors down in the main street of Maleny.
This attractive pair of dedicated mothers and busy retail partners, are well anchored to this community. Wanita’s family goes back five generations in Maleny. Melissa is a former professional model and is married to internationally- renowned rock legend Kevin Borich. She is also one of our most recognised yoga and meditation teachers on the range.
“The last seven years have been wonderful in our lovely little shop,” said Wanita, “but we’ve simply out-grown it. It became like Aladdin’s Cave with our fashion component, yoga clothing and a selection of jewellery and gifts. Everything became so crammed together that our customers were having trouble finding what they were looking for. Now we can display everything in more spacious surroundings and with so much more natural light.”
“Having modelled for so many Australian fashion brands in the past,” adds Melissa, “Wanita and I have always supported Australian labels such as Metalicus, Wyse and Mesop. These labels are a mix of luxurious natural fibres, and are great for layering with other garments. They provide a fantastic amount of stretch and durability too, which suits our regular customers because they last season after season.
“Many professional business women in particular come back each season to select new pieces to compliment what they have already, which is a great way to get the very most out of your wardrobe.”
Wanita and Melissa, along with Cheryl and Charmaine (who work instore and are Wanita’s and Melissa’s sisters), have the professional skill to help customers resolve a personal look when they are not sure what will suit them best.
“As a small boutique we have the time for that individualised service,” says Wanita. “It is a lovely feeling when you can help a customer find that special piece or outfit whether it’s for everyday wear or for a special occasion.
“The new premises have allowed us to create an expanded version of our eclectic and colourful Aladdin’s cave of treasures,” adds Melissa. “Now we have more space to share and display what we love and believe in.”
Please celebrate with Melissa and Wanita on Friday June 15 from 6pm onwards at 48 Maple St Maleny. There will be champagne, nibbles and wonderful music by Kevin Borich and Malcolm Holtz. RSVP 5499 9224.
