There is a walum woodland, not far from painter, Margaret Turner’s Sunshine Coast home, which has been slashed back, making it easy for the sprawling footprint of human development.
Margaret’s latest semi-abstract exhibition is called The Idea of Wallum, maybe because that’s all that’s left of a once pristine environment. According to Dr Lisa Chandler from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Margaret’s paintings “explore the mystery,complexity and beauty of the coastal wetlands and forests, while also reflecting her concern for the threats they face from climate change and suburban growth.”
Margaret Turner’s exhibition is at Gallery 1, Noosa Regional Gallery, Pelican Street, Tewantin until October 3.
