A Classic Experience
MANY LOCALS were intrigued to know what was going on behind the covered windows of the cafe opposite Maleny Supa IGA in recent weeks- the former site of the ANZ Bank back in the 1950’s. As the paper was peeled away at the beginning of July, a beautifully renovated space was revealed with period style furniture and fittings along with an inviting open layout and relaxed atmosphere.
In the few short weeks since opening the newly named Old Bank Cafe has quickly become famous for their fantastic muffins baked daily on the premises, and if the repeat business is anything to go by, then the country style breakfast and lunch menus, Piazza Doro coffee, home baked desserts and cakes has also proven to be popular with locals and visitors alike.
Owners David & Caitlin Bradley (pictured above) both come from diverse backgrounds in hospitality. Caitlin runs front of house and draws on her vast experience in customer relations and hospitality in the airlines industry.
Chef David has been in the business for over twenty years with a wealth of International experience including catering aboard super yachts around the world. Perhaps his most notable role was working as personal chef for the richest man in New Zealand with all the catering and event challenges that entailed for over two years.
Now firmly settled in Maleny, David and Caitlin also own and run ‘Blackall Range Orchard’ specialising in limes and feijoas (a Kiwi favourite) and they also enjoy growing vegetables and herbs used at the cafe to ensure maximum quality and freshness.
The Old Bank Cafe is situated at 13 Maple St, Maleny and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 7.30am to 3pm. They are closed on Mondays.
