Walkers in the 10km Charity Walk from the Big Barrel into Maleny township will be rewarded by a party in their honour. Yes, it’s election day, and even non-walkers can come to the No Party Arty Street Party on Saturday 21 August. It’s an election- free zone but plenty of fun, as part of the fabulous Festival of Walks.
The venue is Cook Park for the children and the new streetscape area adjoining – both of which have been treated to new artwork by local artists. There is a BBQ and soft drinks and lots of free family entertainment. Kicking off at 10:30am are Shaken & Stirred, a talented duo with music to get you into the swing and the calypso and even rock and roll. Sparkles the Clown and Sir Andus Magician will engage everyone with their roving activities and free face painting gets the party mood happening. Noel Gardner, award winning songwriter and fingerpicking guitarist, will appear with Alex Bridge providing bass and harmonies.
Check out the Festival of the Walks website for details of the other street parties in Montville and Mapleton during the Festival: www.festivalofthewalks.com.au. or call the Festival hotline: 0428 828 566
