A Colourful Life …

A TRADITIONAL AUSTRALIAN realist painter, Olga Garner-Morris will be Montville Art Gallery’s feature artist for the month of August

Born in Wollongong, New South Wales in 1943, Olga studied at the National Art School for modern art, sculpture and photography. She then embarked on a teaching career with the Adult Education Centre.

She became a full time professional artist in 1976 with a major exhibition in Wollongong. Later that year she set off for Europe with her then husband and two children.

“The first thing we did when we arrived in Spain was purchase a 65 foot (20 metre) yacht,” Olga told us. “For the next two years I shared a studio in Gibraltar with several other artists and spent the rest of my time cruising the Mediterranean with my family.

In 1978, I was invited to exhibit at the Fine Art Guild Gallery in London. The exhibition was a success so, with great regret I decided to sell the yacht and move to London. The time had come for my children to complete their secondary education. We stayed in London for six years during which time I painted and taught art. We returned to Australia in 1984.”

Olga has participated in exhibitions in London, New York, Europe and throughout Australia. She has won countless awards and her paintings can be found in many important collections including those of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Prince Charles.

One of her paintings of the “Krait” is on permanent display at The Australian War Museum.

“We are thrilled to have Olga as our feature artist for August”, said gallery director, Lisa Powell. “Her landscapes depicting local scenes are highly sought after and can be found in collections throughout the world.

There is even one at Buckingham Palace in the Queen’s private collection. She is one of our most popular artists and she is greatly respected by her peers and within the wider artistic community.”

Open daily from 10am to 5pm, Montville Art Gallery is located at 138 Main Street, Montville, opposite the Village Green.

Olga’s paintings will be featured under “Exhibitions” on the gallery website www.montvilleartgallery.com.au from August 1.

I must say, as considerably as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a excellent grasp around the topic matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from much more than 1 angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so a lot. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the subject. Think about adjusting your own believed process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.
