Artistic director Heinke Butt unwraps paintings for the Mary Valley Art Festival collaborative project, which marks the event’s 10th anniversary.
Paintings are flooding the Imbil Post Office for the “Mary Valley Alive” 10/10 collaborative piece which will be unveiled at the Mary Valley Art Festival on July 8.
Artistic director Heinke Butt said the project celebrated the elements of the Mary Valley and its country lifestyle.
Artists had a colour palette of browns, ochres, blues and purples. The canvas size was also specified.
“This project has pushed our artists out of their comfort zone,” Ms Butt said.
The artists do not know what the final concept will look like, except that 130 paintings, each about eight inches square, are being prepared in four different colour palettes.
The arts festival will kick off at the Imbil Public Hall on July 8 with an official gala award presentation opened by radio personality Jamie Dunn.
