The Sunshine Coast will be hosting some of Australia’s finest nonfiction writers, journalists, poets and film-makers in this year’s Reality Bites, non-fiction literary festival.
Thirty-six authors in 43 sessions spread over two weekends (Frid. July 23- Sun. August 1) are bound to enthrall audiences with true stories of love and compassion, the realities of Australia’s environmental future, crime, corruption, saving elephants and smarter solutions to climate change.
The line up includes Tony Cavanaugh, writer and producer (Once were Warriors, The Flying Doctors, The Day of the Roses), Jim Haynes (On All Fronts), Anna Haebich (Murdering Stepmothers: The Execution of Martha Rendell), Jill Roe (Stella Miles Franklin: A Biography) and Robin Williams, (Radio National’s presenter of The Science Show and author of more than ten books).
Multi-award-winning author David Marr (pictured above) will open the third Reality Bites. Some will best know Marr as political commentator with the Bulletin and the Sydney Morning Herald and as presenter of ABC-TV’s Media Watch. Others will be familiar with his books; Patrick White: a Life and The High Price of Heaven. He has most recently written Quarterly Essay 38, Kevin Rudd: An Election Year Profile.
