On Saturday April 17, once again Palmwoods Hotel pulls out all stops in attracting the best blues & roots talent Australia has to offer for its acclaimed and free Palmwoods Got The Blues series.
Kicking the session off at 5.30pm, the wild & woolly rocker Mark Easton brings his one man band to the Palmwoods stage. Apart from his buzz saw slide guitar Easton also simultaneously plays the drums and sings up a storm of real Australian blues.
Making their first appearance at Palmwoods and making the long drive up the coast from the Blue Mountains, Method are much much more than just another guitar and drums duo. Singer/guitar player Bill Jacobi is better known as the groove master bass player for Floyd Vincent & the Childbrides, The Warumpi Band and Neil Murray.
Drummer/vocalist Frank Corby has been a long term member of The Bondi Cigars and together they make some groove heavy roots rock perfect for getting lowdown and funky on a Saturday night.
Since winning the Solo section of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis a few years ago, no less than Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins and Bob Margolin from the Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters bands have regularly appeared with Fiona Boyes while she tours the US. Her latest release “Blues Woman” is the first Australian blues album to be nominated for the prestigious Memphis Blues Music Awards. Her first appearance at Palmwoods once again raises for bar for live performances on the Sunshine Coast.
