After months in Europe, Hat Fitz returns to Palmwoods. Set to make his 15th appearance at the East Coast Blues festival over Easter, Hat’s music has always paid homage to the great Irish musical traditions and his flying fingers and grindstone vocals are now paired with the beautiful Irish singer and percussionist Cara Robinson (right). One of Australia’s greatest blues acts just received a feminine touch that could amaze and astound you.
The Palmwoods hotel features four of its most popular acts in March. Kicking off the month on Saturday March 6, (8pm, free entry) high energy blues rock from the Gold Coast’s Blind Lemon. Led by the twin towers of Jamie Symons on harmonica and rippling blues guitar from Chris Harvey, Blind Lemon’s rapidly expanding touring schedule is testament to their hard work.
On Saturday March 20, (5.30pm free entry) the fun continues with Asa Broomhall singing alone. His masterful musicianship and well honed rootsy voice is the perfect appetizer for the acts to follow Anni Piper is primed for greater recognition worldwide after the January launch of her first international release “Two’s Company” on the US based Blue Leaf records. Statuesque and striking, Anni’s bass playing lays down classic Texas shuffles for the flying fretwork of Sam Worthington, who in turn creates the perfect forum for Anni’s original and acclaimed blues.
