A great sense of community spirit

Community, News, People

I WAS privileged to be able to call Jill Jordan my friend. Both my husband John and I had known Jill for many years and I watched with interest the various positions she occupied and her interesting and varied lifestyle.

If one was to ask me what was so remarkable about Jill, I would have to say her great love of life and her unfailing interest in people and how she could help them should they find themselves in need.

Jill was not afraid to embrace different ways and styles of living. She would try the different road – in many ways the road less travelled. At all times however she was conscious of her fellow men and women, and she had a great sense of community spirit. She did not value those who in various positions in society used those positions for their own personal gain and not for the greater good of the community.

Jill was a “greenie” long before that word became trendy. She was passionate about preserving the wonderful environment in which we live and at times had difficulties with those who were not so inclined. At one stage she ran for public office and performed her duties to the community with the same sense of duty and care she showed to the community at large.

Some who knew her may say she was different. In some ways she was but that difference made her an interesting person and her perception of life and others made for interesting and lively debate. It was very sad to lose her when she still had so much living to do. I will miss her. Especially the friendship and support she always gave to me. Vale Jill. You will be remembered for a life well lived.
