THE YEAR starts with the Full Moon / lunar eclipse in Cancer, exact at sunrise on New Year’s Day in Queensland, bringing into clear focus our relationships with others and our need for nurturing and protection. This is a powerful Full Moon as it is also a lunar eclipse, falling at 10 degrees Cancer. Wherever this point falls in your chart, expect changes in that area of your life.
The New Moon / solar eclipse falls in Capricorn on Fri 15 Jan, exact at 5.11pm AEST at 25 degrees Capricorn. Capricorns are goal-oriented and have a reputation for determination – it is after all the sign of the goat, slowly but steadily making its way to the top of the mountain. Wherever you have Capricorn in your chart is where you are likely to be goal-focused in your life, yet this eclipse indicates that changes are now likely in this area. If your birthday falls close to this date, this is the beginning of a significant new cycle in your life, especially with regard to your sense of self.
A general warning for everyone – eclipses are associated with times of major change. Be particularly careful in the couple of weeks leading up to the eclipses and don’t take any unnecessary risks – eclipses demand respect.
Mercury is still retrograde until Sat 16 Jan, so until then, don’t be surprised if communications are garbled – doublecheck any messages or data you send or receive. Computers can be extra temperamental during a Mercury retrograde period, so remember to back-up your files more often than usual.
Mars is also still retrograde and won’t be turning direct till 11 March, so accept that this is a period when projects and actions need to be reviewed. You’re likely to explode with frustration if you try to fight against this. Use the time wisely to revise and improve on your plans.
Happy New Year! -With love Chirone
