Lorraine Burns
“Success breeds success…”
MULTI AWARD winning artist, Lorraine Burns is the feature artist at the Montville Art Gallery for the month of November. “She is famous for her beautiful still life paintings and her delightful beachscapes featuring young children playing innocently by the water’s edge,” gallery manager, Lisa Powell explained.
Lorraine has won major awards at the Victor Harbour Art Show for the last three years. This year has been very rewarding for Lorraine. She won the People’s Choice Awards at Victor Harbour and also at the San Remo- Newhaven Lions Club. Her painting was voted “best painting” at the Sorrento Rotary Art Show and “best painting by a Bayside artist” at the Brighton Rotary Art Show. She also won Highly Commended awards at both the St Kevin’s College and Alexandra Rotary Art Shows.
“I love to take ordinary, commonplace objects such as a tea towel or a piece of fruit or a vegetable and with the help of clever lighting turn them into the extraordinary.” Lorraine explained.
Born in Melbourne in 1958, Lorraine showed a talent for painting from an early age but it was dressmaking she first chose as her career. At the age of thirty, her passion for painting could no longer be ignored so she enrolled in an art course. The following year she won a major award.
“Despite her success, Lorraine’s paintings are still very affordable.” said gallery manager, Lisa Powell. “She is one of our most popular artists and I can confidently recommend her paintings to collectors.”
Open daily from 10am to 5pm daily, the Montville Art Gallery is located at 138 Main Street, Montville opposite the Village Green. As from November 1, Lorraine’s paintings will be featured under “Exhibitions” on the gallery gallery’s website www.montvilleartgallery.com.au
