Nicklin MP Peter Wellington was on hand recently to help plant the Mandarin tree he donated to the Mapleton State School for its garden. A great supporter of school gardens, Mr Wellington said these gardens not only helped to teach children about growing food, but the school programs are teaching them a lot about healthy eating as well.
“All the Mapleton School classes will be involved in the school garden which is in its early stages, but I understand it is destined to be a community garden,” Mr Wellington said. “I congratulate the school on creating this garden that will also encourage a stronger connection with the local community.
