Community Banking Solutions for Not for Profit Organisations

‘Flexible Accounts that can Help you Save on Fees’
Maleny Credit Union (MCU) has designed a variety of flexible accounts suitable for community based ‘not for profit organisations’ to help avoid fees and provide easy access to funds through over-the-counter and internet banking transactions for organisations such as community groups, religious groups, sports organisations & social clubs.
MCU understands the needs of volunteers managing Not for Profit Organisations by providing greater convenience to access the Credit Union by opening on Saturday mornings.
Switch & Save with MCU’s range of savings & investment accounts for ‘not for profit organisations’ which provide the following fee savings:

 No monthly account activity fees
 No internet banking fees
 No cash withdrawal transaction fees
 No member cheque transaction withdrawal fees

Every time you transact with MCU you are giving back to the region and building community capital! Invest in the Credit Union that invests in the community and the environment.

MCU’s Community Involvement
In addition to MCU supporting the community directly through its own operations, the Credit Union established the MCU Charitable Trust (Trust) in 2000.
The Trust is a tax deductible, tax exempt trust to assist financing local non-profit community groups whose activities enhance the local environment, alleviate poverty and generally help improve the living conditions for those in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland region.
To date, the Trust has contributed $167,483 to the local community in the form of community grants. The Credit Union allocates up to 10% of its annual gross profits to the Trust, which is operated independently from the Credit Union, with MCU members serving on the Trust’s Committee. The Credit Union has ‘enshrined’ its support for the community in its Constitution, by requiring the Credit Union to at least transfer 5% of its before tax profit annually to the Trust.

MCU’s Environmental Support
MCU is a lender with a conscience, focusing on its members’ needs and the environment in which they live. MCU have won several awards from the acclaimed Money magazine, mainly for its environmentally designed loans.
MCU is participating in the Commonwealth Government’s Green Loans Program, which will assist a number of Australian families to install approved water and energy efficient products such as renewable energy systems, wall insulation, glazing, efficient hot water systems and water tanks. The loans will be provided by financial partners, of which MCU was one of the first.
In Brief How the Green Loans Program works:

FYI folks – have seen a lot of grants get approved recently for women starting day care businesses. Looks like an excellent business for a woman, especially minority, to try to fund with grant cash!
