Once again we offer a mix of fascinating and talented hinterland people. Our cover story is about Colin Beard, a photographer and Range resident who has had more than his share of ‘brush-with-fame’ moments. His astonishing images of pop icons of the 60s including Mick Jagger, now have galleries clamouring throughout the country. Colin’s exhibition of more than 160 images comes to Montville at the end of September.
Dean Cameron and his pioneering Biolytix company go from strength to strength. Soon off to New York for further international recognition, Dean is a man whose mind is simply full of original ideas.
At 99 Hilda Keeler is quite amazing. She can still hold an audience with her concert-quality piano-playing skills and she has a life story that is intriguing. Hilda has hidden from world war 1 Zeppelins and chatted with the likes of Winston Churchill and General Eisenhower during world war 2.
More talent from Sabine Wieland who is soon Europe bound with a huge determination to showcase her Basically Wild product range at major shopping centres throughout Germany. Still on food and Markus Bucher and Trevor Hart have won prizes for their cheeses – all of which confirms the Range is getting a reputation for its creative food initiatives, as much as for its artists.
And we introduce ‘Dr Bob’ – a well travelled specialist in family matters with a new column in the Hinterland Times.
Finally, we present two perspectives on the performance of our Council – former deputy mayor of Caloundra City Ian Bryce and OSCAR, the peak community body. Our regular columnist Hanrahan also takes a wry look at the public architecture on the Coast. He’s not too impressed with what he finds.
Plenty of reading to keep you entertained through July.
