The 100 Range folk who managed to get tickets to the Lucas Parklands recital on Saturday March 28 were treated to a stunning virtuoso concert performance by Russian-born pianist, Alexey Yemtsov.
Alexey’s surprise of the evening was to play a Hungarian Rhapsody completely in the dark in recognition of Earth Hour. Other program items included a Beethoven sonata, Schumann, Bach-Siloti and Rachmaninov.
Alexey Yemtsov has been lauded by international conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy and has recorded a CD live at Lucas Parklands in Montville. Ian and Lee Lucas have been on the Range for only 14 months but have already made impressive contributions to local culture and charities. They donated the proceeds from the Yemtsov concert to the Blackall Range Care Group based in Flaxton. The group provides much-needed respite care and is supported by more than 40 Range volunteers.
Ian Lucas and Alexey Yemtsov were interviewed by Mairi Nicholson for her national ABC Classic FM music program on Saturday March 28. Copies of the Alexey Yemtsov Live at Lucas Parklands CD are available by phoning: 5478 5667
