What we eat is probably the biggest contribution to our health status. Foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables are full of antioxidants and they are also alkaline forming in our body. We want our body to sit at a particular PH level which is about 7.35 to 7.45. It’s very specific, however that is necessary for optimal health. Cancer doesn’t like to develop in an alkaline body , neither do many micro-organisms. An acidic system can lead to arthritis, which is painful and often a sign that your system is too acidic. Foods that add to the acidity of your body are any allergens you may eat, ie foods you are allergic too, or coffee, meat, wheat, alcohol , processed foods, preservatives. Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice are both excellent dietary additions to help balance your PH.  Green foods are wonderful , especially spirulina, wheat grass, barley and alfalfa powders. Drinking vegetable juices as part of your diet is also excellent, as they really nourish your body as well as sweep out congestion which often is acidic.
Look after yourself this month and think about your PH levels and how you can create a lovely alkaline system and rid your bbody of excess acid. There are some herbal medicines you can take to help this process along, such as milk thistle, globe artichoke, fenugreek , alfalfa, fennel, turmeric, and of course the addition of garlic and ginger in your diet.
