Rosetta's new owner Anne Brown (left) and book lover and seller Peta Miller

Anne Brown has a love of books and enjoys talking to people – two qualities that should ensure her success as the new owner of Rosetta Books.
“I really like people and am interested in them and what they read”, says Anne, “and that’s the best thing about the bookshop. Everyone who comes into Rosetta’s share a love of books and reading.
They don’t always know what they want of course, and that’s where we come in, to try and guide them. Peta Miller, who works here, is amazing. Her memory for titles and authors is phenomenal and she has read so much. She’s been selling books since 1986. Christine Crocker is also very knowledgeable and has had a long association with books.
We get quite a lot of people looking for books for their book clubs. There are about nine book clubs in Maleny that we know of and Rosetta’s gives 10 per cent off for their books.
We’re actually starting a book club upstairs at Rosetta’s – probably one night a month. Book clubs are a great meeting place for new people to get to know their town. We also want to get author events ups and running again. People in Maleny have missed them.
Maleny readers are very diverse readers so we try to keep an eclectic range of books. We get a fair mix of tourists too who come up from the Coast. Recently for example, in the front window we had a big expensive book on Harley-Davidsons.  Maleny attracts a lot of bike club members so that book went, just like that!
So we enjoy researching and stocking books that you don’t get in main stream bookshops
And I think that’s the reputation of Rosetta Books.
