Many locals will know the house at 26 Coral Street as Lorna Petersen’s old home. It was built in 1956 for Lorna and her husband Wally, who was the accountant and later manager of the old Butter Factory. Lorna lived there until she moved to Erowal in 2007 when locals, Suzanne and Anthony Brown, were fortunate enough to buy it from her.
The house was built in 1956 for Lorna and her husband Peter and still has all the original character. It has been renovated to accommodate Anthony and Suzanne’s business and has become an Acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) hub, with Anthony Brown and Caitlin Kinnear relocating from Maple Street, and Paula West relocating from Conondale to join them. All practitioners are registered which means patients are eligible for health fund rebates.
Anthony began his practice in Darwin 27 years ago with the last 22 in Maroochydore. Then in 2003 he split his time between Maroochy and Maleny.
Caitlin is also a qualified TCM practitioner having trained in China, and she uses traditional herbs and acupuncture in her practice. Caitlin spent some months last year doing voluntary practice in East Africa on an Equal Health Care Access Program, using her TCM for everything under the sun from emergency medicine to chronic conditions.

Paula West is a qualified and registered TCM practitioner. She also provides herbal medicine and acupuncture.
Paula West is a qualified and registered TCM practitioner & provides herbal medicine, acupuncture and cupping. Paula’s training has taken her to China on two occasions. Many people may already know Paula in her other business, the Maleny Organic Farmers’ Market, where growing organic food & practicing healthy living go hand in hand.
Suzanne Brown caught up with Lorna Petersen recently to show her the renovations to her old home.
“I remember when we first came to live in Maleny. I was 11 years old; it was September 1917 and it was raining”, Lorna was telling us recently. “It kept raining most days until the following June and I remember my mother saying “I can’t live here with all this rain, but we did.”
It’s not so surprising that it has rained every day we tried to get a photo of Lorna in front of her old home.”
