The Sounds of Music
Sound waves in your environment are part of everyday life. The wind in the trees, the call of birds in the morning, the croak of frogs in the pond., the fall of rain on your roof. These are all natural environmental sounds. Do you often examine what sounds you allow into your life? With the world of loud rock music, heavy metal, ubiquitous iPods, MP3 players, mobile phone calls, TV screens in banks and piped muzak in supermarkets and shops its something we find hard to escape today in an urban, or even in a rural environment.
Whatever you have in your environment and your head will influence the Chi (energy levels) of your home and surrounds and your state of mind. The sound waves that vibrate the air around you carry their own Chi field and effect the Chi of your own body and mind. They will change your mood and potentially change your personality and creativity. A softer, more gentle and considered sound around you will calm your environment making it easier for you to focus deeper inside and come up with your most creative solutions. A positive active sound can then bring out your creative into the physical and can resonate with you making you feel more imaginative.
Some music will activate your creative or your considerate and compassionate side and bring out the best in you. Think carefully about the music you surround yourself with in your home and see how it effects you. Before you add new sounds to your home think about what they will do for you. Alarm bells, telephones, clocks, doorbells, new music, CDs, electric devices or loud toys, etc. This is harder to do when you are out in a shop or other people’s environments but at home you can control and take care of the sounds you appreciate and enjoy. Ambient sounds such as moving water, birds or soft winds ripple through the home and keep the good Chi on the move. Discordant and cacophonous sounds will break up harmony in the home and fracture your creative side. One sound that in Feng Shui traditionally clears out the negative, is the sound of harmonious bells or chimes in the wind as these help clear and stimulate the positive in the atmosphere when ringing. Windchimes in the right place are great clearing device to start off a new approach.
