TRUE SISTAS IN MUSIC
The idea of ‘Sista Music, classic alternative strings’ began in 2002 over a sunset meal in Mooloolaba. One by one with twists of fate Palmwoods resident Sarah Symes (violinist) & Louise King (cellist) immigrated to the Sunshine Coast from the UK. ‘‘ Inspired by the beautiful surroundings our vision is to create a musical lifestyle that embraces the Coast’s eclectic energy and ‘Sista Music’ is an ideal way for us to combine our talents and artistic passions.’’
Sarah & Louise come from a musical family and are fortunate to have been trained to a high standard at an early age. ‘‘Our music making is natural, unique, genuine and fresh with attention to detail and a quality of performance that reflects our training.
We arrange most of our music ourselves and enjoy adding our own artistic musical thoughts in the process to produce something that little bit different, hence ‘alternative classic strings.’ We also add other instruments to our String Duo, ‘Hand Percussion, Acoustic Guitar, Piano and Soprano Voice which enables us to show our versatility and cater for all musical tastes.
Sista Music frequently performs for Weddings at the Coast’s beautiful Beaches, Hinterland, National Parks, 5 star International Resorts, Wineries and Restaurants.
Their corporate clients include ‘The University of the Sunshine Coast’ and ‘Caloundra Regional Art Gallery.’
They have also performed with the likes of ‘Katie Noonan’ and ‘Vince Jones’ at Brisbane’s ‘Power House’ and South Bank. ‘‘Collaborating and recording with other musicians is on our list of ‘things to do’ this year, as well as releasing our debut CD.
‘‘Creating our business has been a much loved process for us both, a never ending journey and one that is always challenging as we both have young families and other musical career paths.’’ To find out more about ‘Sista Music’ visit www.sistamusic.com
