Artist Kevin Oxley will put up for auction a portrait of Sunshine Coast Council mayor Bob Abbot to help victims of the Victorian bushfires.
Kevin’s striking portrait of the Coast’s charismatic mayor will be put up for silent auction, with the profits going to the Red Cross appeal.
This very generous act to help support bushfire victims comes from a man who is facing his own personal health battles. We can all help make a difference… so it is time to “Bid for Bob”!
This valuable portrait is a stunning oil on canvas measuring 122 x 91 cm and captures perfectly the larger-than-life image of the first mayor of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
Oxley, a hinterland resident has been an Archibald finalist and renowned for his portraiture for many years. Over a career spanning more than 35 years Kevin has gained an enviable reputation for his mastery of painting, sculpture and print-making.
On hearing about the auction Mayor Abbot said “What a fabulous idea - it is good to know that all the work that Kevin has put into this can raise money for a good cause. ”
The ‘Bid for Bob’ silent auction will run from March 6-27 through the Art on Cairncross website www.artoncairncross.com.au, and the painting will be displayed at the gallery for viewing during this time.
