This small but exquisitely designed and written book is a paean to the natural world of the Mary River. Launched at the UpFront Club in December, its editor Adele Coombs said the book was started before Premier Bligh decided to delay the Treveston Dam. “ We are happy that we have a bit longer to get the word out right around Australia”, Adele told the Hinterland Times,” because we’ve got 10,000 copies to distribute in marginal electorates and those of key politicians”.
Save the Mary River Coordinating Group President, Glenda Pickersgill said.
“There’s a lot of confusion about the dam being delayed. The actual construction of the dam has been delayed but not the approval process. The Queensland govt is still intending to seek federal government approval of the dam. But there’s a lot of heat on the premier and she’s trying to back off a little bit as they come up to an election campaign”. For copies of “Love, Mary” email: savethemary@gmail.com
