Summer solstice – times of great change

Pluto re-entered Capricorn at the very end of last month, and already we are seeing the transformation of financial institutions and government establishments heralded earlier this year by this astrological placement.  This is only just the beginning of what Pluto’s 15–year journey through Capricorn is likely to have in store for us – plenty of time for some very major changes in the world order.

Venus goes into Aquarius on 7 Dec, gearing up for the social party-going season despite any crisis, and bringing the desire for more freedom, excitement and stimulation in relationships.  It also brings a desire to relate to others through causes that benefit humanity, working to raise the level of consciousness on the planet.

The Full Moon in Gemini on 13 Dec (exact at 2.38am) is a time for enjoying good conversation and exchanging ideas.  It’s also a time when hidden things or long-kept secrets may come to light.

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year (and shortest night) in the southern hemisphere, the traditional mid-season time of celebration and feasting.  This year it falls on 21 December as the Sun moves into Capricorn (exact at 10.05pm), where it joins Pluto, also at zero degrees of Capricorn, signalling that the next three months are likely to be a time of profound change and transformation.  The chart for SE Queensland suggests these changes are likely to be felt most strongly in the areas of leisure and entertainment, financial speculation, and in our children – maybe even affecting the birth rate.  This is echoed in the chart for Australia as a whole too.

The New Moon falls in Capricorn on 27 Dec at 10.23pm, signifying the beginning of a new cycle in our lives in terms of self-discipline, responsibility, and introducing more structure into our lives.  With six planets now in Capricorn, there is a major focus on disciplined action leading to solid achievement, particularly in the areas of home and creativity.  The 24-hour period immediately following any New Moon is an excellent time for manifesting, so set your intentions now.
