Recognised as the finest resident pianist in Australia, Alexey Yemtsov, was being professionally recorded at Lucas Parklands late last month in an exciting new venture for Ian and Lee Lucas. The pair have established a venue for young pianists, particularly up and coming Australian performers, to play in their Montville concert room, and have the chance of recording a CD of their work. The first CD in the new Lucas venture is by Yemtsov, the 26 year-old Russian-born concert pianist. Alexey is so well regarded that international conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy will provide review notes for the Montville-produced CD. Maleny photographer, Penny Riddoch has taken photographs for the CD cover and Hinterland film company Q-frame have recorded Yemtsov’s recent Rachmaninov and Mozart concert with a view to producing a DVD in 2009. Alexey Yemtsov will return to Montville in January to complete the DVD.
