Dear Marisa,
My daughter is completing Year 12 this year and I see so many pressures on her from all sides. I can’t remember the same pressures to succeed when I went to school 20 years ago. Do you think this is for the individual to cope with or are there ways that we as parents can ease these pressures, while still helping our daughter to succeed in her chosen studies?

Dear Mark and Linda,
Your daughter isfortunate to have so much love wanting to support her. There are certainly more pressures than ever before on us all, but particularly on our young ones. However, when you watch the Olympic gamesyou notice that athletes demonstrate more and more excellence with each games. Watch a young person on a computor and see how quickly their minds adjust to new technology. There is something truely grand about human potential that drives each generation to greater and greater success, we are consciously and unconsciously goal seeking. The challenge we face is to create a greater balance in our lives, to remember to soften our bodies and relax our minds between all the rushing and striving. We need to give ourselves the space to connect deeply with the wisdom, healing and joy that is dormant within us. As parents we can help our children, by turning off the TV at night and creating a restful loving environment in the home that signals the opportunity for communication and unwinding at the end of the day.  We can support their bodies by ensuring that they eat healthy organic meals and have plenty of healthy snacks and clean water to drink as they focus on their studies etc. We can invite them to come for a walk, stay connected with nature, interact with a pet, and teach them by example, present time awareness and how that releases us from the burden of all that we have to do.  We can fill our homes with soft energising music and aromatherapy oils.  And we can know that they are powerful strong beings born into this time and fit for the challenges they face, all that it needs is just a little balance.

Love Marisa…Naturally
