The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Times received recognition in two categories in the recent Queensland Country Press Association Awards ceremony held in Brisbane.
The monthly magazine, owned and published by Michael Berry and Faith Baigent took out the top award for Technical Excellence in a publication with a circulation from 5-20,000. The award was based on editions of the Hinterland Times only produced by the pair since they took over the magazine in May 2008.
The awards judges said the Hinterland Times “… was produced with a high standard of composition design right through the pages and provided a well-balanced use of colour”.
The Hinterland Times also received a Certificate of Merit for the Best Locally Produced Full Colour Advertisement. The award was for a full page colour advertisement in the August edition for the Pole Home Group of Maleny. The ad was written by Faith Baigent and designed by Darren Baker.
After the awards ceremony, held at the Rydges Hotel in Brisbane, editor of the Hinterland Times Michael Berry said he and his wife Faith were delighted to have won awards so early in their ownership of the magazine.
“These awards confirm our determination to produce a publication that is not only a pleasure to read, but is good to look at too”, said Michael. “We want our magazine to be the best read on the Sunshine Coast hinterland not only for residents but also
for visitors to our region”.
