Poets head for Kenilworth

Entertainment, Performance, What's On

In September each year there’s a poets’ migration to Kenilworth for the annual Poets’ Breakfast. It’s all part of the Kenilworth Celebrates! Festival from 27 September – 5 October and organised by the Conondale Range Committee.

The breakfast has gained in popularity each year and have now become regular features at festivals across the country, from folk festivals like Woodford to the Gympie Muster.

The breakfast runs from 8am till 10.30am on Saturday 27 September at the Kenilworth Showgrounds.
Audiences love the poets and the poets regard the audiences as amongst the best. Host is popular local poet and Woodford regular Ian Mackay, who tells us that no two bush poets can agree about exactly what bush poetry is.

The Kenilworth performers, he tells us, have very diverse styles yet share a common ability to make audiences smile laugh and empathise. No two Breakfasts are ever the same and with the diverse line-up of poets on offer this year, audiences are sure to be delighted. Past national champion reciter Mark Feldman will be there, as will Muster champion Harry Donnelly and Mapleton’s Reyna Hadley.

We’re also looking forward to the return of Tewantin fisherman Brad Maclean with his relaxed and easy style  and the Poetry Nurse will be back.

Entry to the poets is $5 or a hearty breakfast is available for $15 which includes entry to Poets. We’re still serving real coffee and there’s no need for bookings.
