Another annual get-together of pioneering and early families and their descendants of Mapleton and surrounding districts in on Saturday October 4 at the Mapleton Hall from 10am.

This group usually contributes something to the Hall or sportsfield and since 1979 they have planted 81 memorial trees at the sportsfield.

In 1995 for example, a tree was planted for all those who served from Mapleton in World War 11. Another project for this group that has been meeting for more than 30 years was the establishment of the Smith Memorial Park with help from the councillor at the time, Moss Day.

The group has also donated a clock and a framed print of Queen Elizabeth to the Hall and recently a noticeboard made by Russell  Klease. This year’s display features the Johnson and English families.
