- Paul Lucas, Minister for Infrastructure/ Planning has called for nominations for Iconic Places Queensland panel members. Several MVA members have decided to nominate. MVA endorsement will be discussed at July 28th General meeting.
- On 25th August, Nicklin MP Peter Wellington will preside at our AGM. The State Elec-toral Redistribution Commission has announced a proposal to remove Montville/ Flaxton from Nicklin. Despite appeals we may lose Peter as our State Parliament representative. We have therefore invited Peter and Jenny Wellington to join us for a ‘Thank You’ at 6.30pm in the Montville Hall prior to the business of the AGM. All members of our community are welcome. This is a BYO with a plate to share please.
- AGM business will commence at 7.30pm when all committee positions will be vacated. All MVA members are invited to nominate for positions. Nominations from new and younger members would be most welcome with an injection of fresh energy and ideas.
- The MVA has three major roles within the community. One is to liaise with Local, State and Federal representatives / organisations on matters relevant to our community at the request of MVA membership.
- Another is to care for the Montville Village Hall and the Montville Sportsground for which the MVA is Trustee.
- The third is to organise, support or co-ordinate our traditional Festivals; the wonderful Australia Day Breakfast; Santa Night; Carols on the Green; Easter Dawn Service and Anzac Day Dawn Ceremony. Since the formation of Montville Chamber of Commerce 3 years ago the MVA now focusses on residents concerns and interests.
- We all have the opportunity and responsi-bility to contribute to the village life we are so fortunate to enjoy. Please get involved. Consider a position on the next management committee or at least a sub-committee (which are goal based for members with specific interests or expertise).
- Management committee nominations must be lodged with the Secretary by close of business 11th August.
