Advertorial, Food and Dining

Dispelling the belief that the best restaurants are always located on the tourist coastal strips, the charming hinterland restaurant, The French Room again took out the 2008 awards for Best Chef-Owner as well as the coveted Best Fine Dining award at Restaurant and Catering Queensland ‘Awards for Excellence’ ceremony last month.

French trained master Chef, Erik Van Alphen (left) created his intimate foodies haven two years ago out of sheer frustration.

“I just wanted to cook French food and only French food for anyone who was interested in experiencing it.  To win awards for something I love doing – creating beautiful food is wonderful.”

This multi, award winning master chef humbly describes his food as classically French provincial that is simple and honest.  The menu is small and noticeably French along with nightly specials that are changed nightly to reflect his mood.  The wine menu is concise, interspersing boutique style Australian and New Zealand wines with classic, French varieties.

Why named the French Room?

Simply because the restaurant is one small room serving French food.  In fact it seats a total of 24 people inside therefore it is essential that you book, tel 5442 1511.
